Congratulations to our December 2024 winner, Jennifer Hathcock!

My name is Jennifer Hathcock, but I go by Queen’s Bees Quilting (@queensbeesquilting on Instagram). I began my quilting journey back in 2016 by finishing a project my grandmother started. She passed before I was born, but my mom kept a box of hand-embroidered squares with the 50 states’ birds and flowers under a cabinet in a special box for over 30 years. My mother talked about finishing them all through my youth but one day I had an idea to finish it as a Mother’s Day gift; so, I set off to “YouTube university” to learn all that I needed to accomplish this goal. I didn’t finish by Mother’s Day. I finished it in time for Christmas. I made so many mistakes along the way but the look on her face when I gave her that quilt hooked me. I’ve been quilting ever since! During the day, I am a wife, a mother of 4, and a full-time mechanical engineer. During the night, I am an all-in, trying something new-, fabric hoarding-, seam ripping- quilter. And I love the Full Line Stencils by Hancy Creations. They help me accomplish beautiful free-motion quilting designs without the fear of ruining my project. With so many stencil designs, I still feel my creative side engaged as I determine which motif enhances my present project. At the same time, I build my confidence as a beginning free-motion quilter. I hope that anyone wishing to add FMQ to their skills starts here with Full Line Stencils.

Me too, Jennifer! And your mom must have been so surprised. What a beautiful gift.
