This is a very traditional design that is worth experimenting with. It goes well on a nine-patch where the finished block is 9" but it also has great potential with other 9" blocks. When configured as below on the left, the measurement from the outer edge of the 3 squares to opposite 3 squares outer edge is 11 1/2". Remember you will lose 1/2 on each side due to the overlap of the 3 square section so they fit well into a 11 inch block. If you butt the 3 squares against each other making a six square configuration it will fit into 12 inch blocks nicely.
This is a very traditional design that is worth experimenting with. It goes well on a nine-patch where the finished block is 9" but it also has great potential on other 9" blocks. If your block is bigger or smaller it will still provide a beautiful pattern and texture. It can be set as interesecting or connecting as shown below. It's all in how you overlay the three squares on the ends. Check out the video below for a stitch guide, it's easier than it looks.
Even the best traditions need an update. That’s why we’ve reinvented stencils for quilting. These unique stencils are transferred with a Quilt Pounce Pad™, and because the material is a nylon mesh open only on the design lines, the powder goes right through to the quilt top! There are no breaks or bridges to fill in, no mess, and it’s easy, fun, and effortless to transfer beautiful designs onto your quilt tops. With a few swipes of the Chalk-filled Quilt Pounce™, you’re ready to accent the beauty of your quilt by stitching over a crisp, crystal-clear motif, border, or continuous line. Full Line Stencils™ are the choice of quality and value. Perfect for beginners to the pros who thought they had everything.
Full Line Stencils™ require very little care. They are tough and can be transferred countless times. If they begin to get a little “dusty” from the chalk, use a damp cloth to clean them. A dry Microfiber towel also works well. If you’re using the Ultimate Pounce Powder, you can even iron them to clean them up! Be sure to clean them if switching chalk colors. You don’t want to heat set the blue when you’re ironing off the white.
What’s the best way to store Full Line Stencils? Store flat or roll. However, our standard size and smaller stencils slip into inexpensive sheet protectors and can be kept in a binder. Pants hangers work great, too; hang the hanger on a nail on the wall to keep them out of your way yet still within easy reach.
Full Line Stencils™ all work the same. There is no right or wrong side; you just position them, swipe the Pounce pad over the top, lift them off, and sew!
